How to Host The best Stress-FREE Thanksgiving Ever!
November is officially in full swing and that means that Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Thanksgiving in a Hispanic home is always full of laughter, delicious food and lots of love. It's a time to give Thanks for the many blessings you've come across in the past year, and it is also the time to let your loved ones know how much you care about them and how grateful you are to have them in your life. That being said, Thanksgiving can also be very stressful for a lot of hosts, so here are a few tips on how to host the best Thanksgiving ever, without the stress. Set your time - Let everyone know what time they can start showing up. Set your budget - It's very important to set a spending budget for your Thanksgiving dinner because it is so easy to overspend on food. Set your budget and stick to it as best as you can. Create your guest list - This will help determine how much food is required to feed everyone. Stay on top of your guest list - Just because there's an RSVP date, doesn't mean that everyone will stick to it unfortunately. Reach out to everyone on the RSVP date to see if they are coming or not. Take it a step further and contact everyone a week before to make sure that they are still coming. Plan your menu - Ask your guests if they have any allergies or dietary needs. Don't go overboard - You don't need seven different cornbread or five different veggies. Definitely have variety, but don't feel the need to make so many different things. Keep it Simple - Thanksgiving Day is not the time to get fancy, so if you're looking to try out a new recipe, definitely try it out a few times before the day. It is let stressful when you stick to recipes that you know and are comfortable making. Stay Organized - Make a list of the things that needs to get done, and what you need to buy. If you've enlisted the help of others, make sure to keep a list of who's bringing what. Gather the Troops - Never turn down help and don't be afraid to ask for help! Do what you can ahead of time - cut your veggies, make your potato salad, defrost and season your turkey/meat, clean and set up as much as possible. This will save you so much time on the day of!
